David Gerstein writes:
[Donald's] car has had some parts replaced as they
wore out, with those from other cars. I believe that the car is said to
have a "1920 Mixwell engine" -- there must be a car brand called Maxwell
which this spoofs, but I don't know it.

This refers to the famous Maxwell roadster, which was the subject of
running gags throughout comedian Jack Benny's 50-year career on radio
and TV. (Benny portrayed himself as being the world's biggest tightwad
with his money - a human McDuck. if you will - and so he kept driving
the vintage Maxwell for decades after its useful lifetime had run out.
Every week, his show would have some joke about keeping the Maxwell
going, so that he wouldn't have to break down and buy a new car. This
had been an on-going joke for 20 years or more by the time Barks used
it, and Benny kept the joke alive for at least another 20 years after
that.)
