Snafu again

I am lucky enough to have seen most of Warner Brothers' and UPA's
"Private Snafu" cartoons recently. Interestingly enough, the position of
the accent on "Snafu" varies, stress is set either on first or on last
syllable, dependent on the cartoon. (Snafu's cousins, Tarfu and Fubar,
bear their accents on the first syllable.) The very first of the series,
"Coming: Snafu", introduced the acronym as follows: "Situation normal,
all ..." [pause] "... all fouled up."
