SUMMARY =======================

The amount of comics pages was lowest since 1996. If looking at previous
years:

comics total: (no covers, B -issues not counted)
1996: 1564.5 pages (32 pages per issue)
1997: 1708.5 pages (36 pages per issue)
1998: 1702.5 pages
1999: 1674 pages
2000: 1643 pages
2001: 1642 pages

With the stories having one page only the very best years seems to be
behind.

Stories having 0 - 1 pages: (B -issues not counted)
1996: 19 stories
1997: 71 stories
1998: 106 stories
1999: 97 stories
2000: 82 stories
2001: 73 stories

The same goes with serial stories.
(= long stories splitted in 2 - 3 parts for different issues)
1996: 52 parts 415 pages 23 full stories (+ parts)
1997: 46 parts 374 pages 21 full stories (+ parts)
1998: 43 parts 376 pages 20 full stories
1999: 30 parts 270 pages 15 full stories (+ parts)
2000: 24 parts 228 pages 11 full stories (+ parts)
2001: 24 parts 215 pages 11 full stories (+ parts)

With Carl Barks stories 2001 was an average year for Aku Ankka magazine.
The year 1999 was the rock bottom since 1951.

Barks stories in Aku Ankka: (B -issues not counted)
1996: 12 stories 121 pages
1997: 13 stories 88 pages
1998: 24 stories 93 pages
1999: 5 stories 39 pages
2000: 10 stories 111 pages
2001: 17 stories 103.5 pages

Somehow Aku Ankka magazine has turned to a pure duck magazine;
Mouse stories have vanished. In 2001 Finnish weekly had 28 issues
having no other mouse stories but 1-2 pager Manuel Gonzales and
Floyd Gottfredson sunday pages. Eight issues had no mouse stories
at all.

During the spring time there was a period when issues 2001/12 - 18 had:
- Duck stories 216 pages
- Mouse stories 7 pages
- and one Mad Madam Mim story 2 pages

And still this lost of mouse stories would not be necessary.
Basicly the Finnish weekly is compiled by the same material
as Egmont weeklies (mostly)

If looking at the Swedish Egmont weekly in 2001 they had five
new 10 pagers drawn by Ferioli and six new 10 pagers drawn by
Noel Van Horn *MORE* than the Finnish weekly had (all mouse
stories). Both artists are the most exelent talents and still
the Finnish editors decided not to use their artwork. Why?
And since the Finnish monthly extra is nowadays compiled by
Dutch stories only we'll never see those great mouse stories
here. Great!

Of course also duck stories were "cutted away" like atleast two
12 pagers drawn by Vicar. But the Swedish weekly Kalle Anka & Co
had some 1000 pages more comics than Finnish weekly...

The new Romano Scarpa story in Egmont weekly 2001/51 was placed
to the Finnish monthly extra. Only for few people to see. As a
Finn it's exciting to see do the Finnish weekly bother to publish
the second new Romano Scarpa story that was in the Swedish
weekly 2002/01 - it's a mouse story too!

No "Helsinki Media" texts visible anymore. Aku Ankka 1/2002 was
published by "Sanoma Magazines Finland Oy".
