Decaying flaky old paper is best

Hello folks

I am no luddite. Modern computers and the internet are
a massive boon for comics fans. But while I enjoy the
fact that you can read comics on a computer
screen...and am very grateful to get daily deliveries
of great old newspaper strips through the digital
media...and would rather see them preserved digitally
than not at all...

...I agree with Fabricio that paper is best. I love
old comics, particularly crumbly faded old ones. Just
the smell of them gives me immense pleasure. The gaudy
colours of the printing. The yellowed pages. You can't
beat it. Personally, I don't care about the condition,
and I don't want to put my comics in Mylar Snuggies
Archival Storage Sleeves in a lead lined vault. I want
to read them, enjoy them.

Childhood memories of going to the shops, looking at
all the brightly coloured comics on the counter at the
newsagent. Happy memories. Will the next generations
have these memories? Memories of actually making a
physical effort to find something? Going out to buy
something? The feel, touch and smell of a comic book?

Makes you think, doesn't it?

Best wishes to all Comic People, Papery or Electronic.

VIC
