Cornelius Coot was not a duck, but a coot (a different kind of bird).
Apart from the Ducks, most of the other birds in duckburg are not ducks,
put parrots, chickens or swans. Perhaps this means that the Ducks are
really the only ducks in Duckburg, which does not sound so strange,
if we equate fowl species with family. The Duckburg Ducks seem to be
a small family, while almost everybody else are people who moved to
Duckburg when it became a large business center, after Scrooge built
his money bin there.

I guess that being the only ducks in Duckburg makes them stand out as
special, which I suppose they are. For some reason, a town of mostly
dog-faced people, with only a few ducks, reminds me of Monty Python's
"bicycle repairman" sketch! [For those who haven't seen it, it was
about a town where everybody looked like superman, except for the hero,
an ordinary bicycle repairman.]
