This must be Marco Rota's "Buon compleanno, Paperino!" (I HBP 1-1)
Also known as "From egg to duck".

I think it's a beautiful story. I've enjoyed it ever since my early 
Duck fandom years. It was a motivation to become even more of a Duck 
fan. It has great drawings, and a nice atmospheric story-line. If it 
hasn't been published in the USA, I hope that Gemstone will print it.

Thanks for reminding me of the story! I'm going to reread it, tonight.
