I don't know whether it is related to the archaic "gripper", to grab, to =
hold on (now "agripper")-- the miser grabs coins and holds on to them, =
won't let them go.

Magica is known as Miss Tick, from "mystique" (mystical).

The French branch of the Junior Woodchucks are the Castors Junior =
(castor: beaver).

Chief O'Hara is Comissaire Finot.
finot: familiar for cute (in the sense of "smart")

Pegleg Pete is Pat Hibulaire,
from patibulaire: to have a sinister look-- connotation: suspicious =
looking

Goofy is Dingo (like the Australian wild dog)-- it's the equivalent of =
the familiar "nut"

The Phantom Blot is Le Fant=F4me Noir (Fant=F4me: ghost, phantom).

And Eega Beeva and Pflip's names are spelled Iga Biva and Flip.

I though of adding such information on my site when I did the "names in =
languages" page but eventually didn't. It'd be intersting the study the =
other trnalsations.

(yep, that's the tree)
(and where does your tag line come from?)
