Hello list.
I just received the following message from komiks.dk, the comic con in
Copenhagen (next time 2010-05-21)

Dutch cartoonist Daan Jippes is known for his work on Donald Duck and
other Disney characters, and in May he is attending the
http://www.facebook.com/l/893d6;Komiks.dk Festival.

Daan Jippes is known and loved by Donald Duck fans for his vivid and
lively drawing style, which is very much inspired by that of the great
Carl Barks. His career in comics started in the 60s, where he had
stories printed in Dutch magazine Pep and later on he became
nationally recognized with the album Bernard Voorzichtig: Twee Voor
Thee.

In the mid 70s he started working on the Donald Duck magazine in
Holland, and thus a career with Disney started. His unique style and
interpretations of the beloved characters caught the attentions of the
Disney Studios in Burbank, California, after which he was hired to
work in the merchandizing department and later for the animation
department as a storyboarder and designer. He worked on several now
classic Disney movies such as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

Jippes was asked to redraw some old Junior Woodchucks stories written
by Carl Barks in the mid 90s by Egmont. Jippes dynamic style brought
these stories to a new audience.

These days Jippes works as a comics artist in Holland for various
magazines and publishers.

Daan Jippes is presented in association with The Netherlands
Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture, known in the
Netherlands as Fonds BKVB
