ARTHUR AND HARRY (and others):

Those were great lists of which countries produce new Disney stories
and which countries publish Disney comics. But the important thing to
remember, especially when you have people like Arthur's "expert" friend
popping off about which few countries are "allowed" to produce Disney
stories, is this: ALL of those countries/companies where Disney comics are
published have the full rights to produce their own Disney comics stories
(as long as they meet the guidelines). But most publishers choose to simply
reprint the fine work already prepared by OTHER companies since it costs
NOTHING but the price of a photostat! As we say so often, there are no
ROYALTIES paid by the licensed publisher to the producers of those stories,
so it's very cheap to use that ready-to-go work. But it's NOT that they
aren't allowed to do new stories anytime they wish. An important
differentiation, I think.

And what's all this business about Dennis the Menace? What's that
got to do with the price of tomatoes?>
