Halsten:
>>I would guess it comes from one of the chapters in Life of Scrooge?
Yep.
I think there's more chances (almost) everybody has these stories
(the 12 "core" ones) than others.

David:
>>I guess this is LO$ #10?
Right!
Part 10, "The invader of Fort Duckburg", p 8 panel 6
(enter the Beagle Boys!).

>>(In the USA, Disney made Gladstone change this to Lone Stranger, due
>>to concerns about copyright of the name 'Lone Ranger').
Oh. Huh.
Er--
Yeah, right.
I misread it: I really read "Ranger". Sorry.

Kriton:
>>Barks was probably making oblique references to alcoholism. After all,
>>it's not the only time that Barks used soft drinks as a substitute for
>>alcoholic drinks. E.g., in the end of "Christmas on Bear Mountain" [...]
There's also the "Bubbleweight Champ" story (WDC&S 282, March '64, Album 49),
in which too much soda (Gurgleurp soda pop) has devastating consequences on
Donald and the Goosetown Woodchucks' champion, who usually drinks only
wild yak's milk. I'm not sure soda is really used as a substitute for alcohol here;
it's rather a joke on drinking too much of it.
For something close to intoxication, there's "Rip Van Donald" (WDC&S 112,
Jan '50, Album 17), with the ether-induced hallucinations at the end.
