Scrooge's memorie and Flintheart's name

Yes, but in a story I happened to read yesterday, Scrooge was bragging
about his excellent memory, as he was able to reproduce from memory the
locations of thousands of small safes, scattered all over the world!

This is an example of the near impossibility, that Don mentioned,
of the task of trying to reconcile stories by different writers, and
why it may be necessary for a writer to ignore consistency if it suits
him. It served the requirements of the plot of "Back to the Klondike"
that Scrooge should have a bad memory, and it served the requirements
of the plot of that other story that Scrooge should have an excellent
memory. Of course, the task is only *near* impossible, as you can try
to figure out ways to bridge the inconsistencies. In this case, e.g.,
you might argue that after the events in "Back to the Klondike", Scrooge
made sure that he took his memory pills regularly!
