Hi, Unca' Keno!
In your pages, you tell, about "The Richest Duck in the World" :
>>>In Europe, they couldn't use the gag concerning the "12 Days of Christmas"
song
>>>and the other comment about the police looking for rogue drummers
drumming. But
>>> they couldn't remove the background of panel 3 on page 16 with the cop
chasing
>>> the drummer. What did European readers make of that, I wonder?
If you still don't have the answer :
The woman that looks through the window tells something that could be
translated "George, come and see! There is a man on a sled who runs after a
Santa Clauses herd !
and the man answers "Bah! It must be an advertisment for this song..." and
she tells "what song?" "You know "Li'l Santa Claus, you'd better not forget
my li'l shoe, or something like that..." "I call the police"

In France, there is a little song called "Petie Papa Noël" (Li'l Santa Claus):

Petit Papa Noël, (Li'l Santa Claus,)
Quand tu descendras du ciel (When you'll come down from the sky)
Avec des jouets par milliers (with thousands of toys)
N'oublie pas mon petit soulier (don't forget my little shoe)
... (...)

In France, candies are given in shoes put under the christmas tree, as you
have your red socks on the fire-place

About the drummer, he is runned after by the police because at page 12, panel
8, the policeman tells "careful! every person with strange clothes has to be
considered as a suspect"
