Ah. O.K. She probably is just used as an emotional
amplifier: Reacting to situations around her to give
visual emphasis for the comic story. Her name is French,
which, ironically, means "Pussy" or "Kitty." In Russian,
it means "it will pass." I'm not sure what help any of
that is, but I found it interesting.

In some older USA storybooks featuring a pre-teen Minnie
and Daisy, Minnie had her Pekingese puppy, Fifi (same from
the early cartoons) and Daisy had a little gray kitten
named Trixie. It's doubtful Minet has anything to do with
Trixie, but it does show that cats are among Daisy's choice
of pets. In the animated series QUACK PACK, the very assertive
Daisy had a pet iguana named Knuckles, but that has nothing to
do with anything. :-)

Evenso, I do see a possible contrast. Maybe it isn't
intended, but, in Mickey & Minnie's world, typically, Minnie
has a cat (Figaro) and Mickey has a dog (Pluto). So too,
in Daisy & Donald's world, Minnie has her cat (Minet) and
Donald has his dog (Bolivar). These seem to be the most
typical depictions of pets for these characters at this
time in comics.

Still, since Minet is a female, and I'm fairly certain
Tabby is a male (as is Figaro), I would assume there is
room for romance in Minet's life if creators decided to
look in that direction. :-)
