Blue Streak

Not to belabor a minor talking point, but the expression "Like a Blue
Streak", is very American, and goes way-way back to the hey-day of the
Newspaper business. Back in the 19th Century and the early years of the
20th Century, Newspapers were extremely competitive, and as there were
no Radios or TV's then and very few people had Telephones, the vast
majority of people got their news from the newspapers. When there was a
breaking story, the papers would RUSH to publish a special edition and
get it out onto the streets as quickly as possible; and the front page
was usually marked with a "Blue Streak" down the right edge to
distinguish it from the regular edition. The final edition for that
particular day was the "Red Streak".

Just a little bit of history from an old codger who has been reading
Disney Comics since his Dad started bringing them home in 1940! --30--
