RICH NOTES:

But this reminds me that Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (*AFTER* Walt Disney
lost creative control and ownersip of the character) also had twin
nephews.

AND I COMMENT:

As a side note, Oswald is back in the hands of the Disney studios as in
exchange (in part) for releasing sportscaster Al Michaels from his
ABC/ESPN contract to go to NBC/Universal. New Disney CEO Bob Iger
wanted Oswald back, and he managed to do it. Walt Disney's daughter's
words on the subject:

"When Bob (Iger) was named CEO, he told me he wanted to bring Oswald
back to Disney, and I appreciate that he is a man of his word. Having
Oswald around again is going to be a lot of fun."

It seems more than likely that Iger wanted Oswald for more reason than
bragging rights, so the possibility that he may show up in Disney comics
and return as an animated character is real. Whether his nephews would
appear on screen or in comics could be in doubt, though, since the
Universal Oswald cartoons, comics, and other related goodies didn't come
with the deal -- only the character of Oswald himself.
